The space

The Pontcanna Ruby is a carefully renovated Victorian apartment located on Ryder Street in the heart of Pontcanna. The property combines period character with contemporary comfort, creating a space that feels both distinctive and welcoming.

The open-plan living area brings together a fully equipped modern kitchen, a comfortable sofa area, and a dining table positioned by the window overlooking the leafy street below. It’s an ideal setting for relaxed evenings, remote working, or slow breakfasts before heading out into the city.

Both bedrooms are thoughtfully furnished with quality pieces and dressed in hotel-standard bedding to ensure a restful night’s sleep. High ceilings and generous proportions enhance the sense of light and space throughout.

The bathroom is modern and fully equipped, complementing the apartment’s original features, which include a Victorian fireplace, decorative ceiling coving, solid oak flooring, and traditional early 20th-century tiles at the entrance porch — subtle reminders of the building’s heritage.

Green space is equally abundant. Bute Park and Sophia Gardens are within easy walking distance, offering beautiful riverside walks and open parkland. House rules

The primary guest is responsible for ensuring that the accommodation is left in the condition it was in upon check-in. Primary Guest shall be liable for any damages caused by his or her own acts and omissions (including without limitation failure to timely vacate the accommodation) and also for the acts and omissions of any individuals that Primary Guest invites or otherwise allows into the accommodation.

Online check-in and deposit pre-authorisation are required prior to arrival.

For stays over 2 weeks, a weekly mid-stay cleaning (charged at the same price as a cleaning fee) week must be paid, this will include a full change of linen and general cleaning, this will be arranged directly with your hosts.

Pet charges are applied on top of the booking fee.

Guests have exclusive access to the entire apartment, including the open-plan kitchen and living area, two bedrooms and the bathroom.

Other things to note

The apartment forms part of a quiet residential building, and we kindly ask guests to respect the surrounding community. Hen and stag groups, parties, or excessive noise are not permitted.

For security purposes, CCTV operates at the building entrance and external areas of the property. There are no cameras inside the apartment.

We aim to promote responsible and sustainable hosting, aligned with Cardiff Council’s One Planet Cardiff vision, and we encourage guests to be mindful of energy and waste during their stay.

Free on-street parking is available within approximately a three-minute walk of the property. Availability can vary, particularly during busy periods. After booking, we provide a guide highlighting the most reliable nearby options.

To ensure a smooth and secure stay, guests are required to complete our self check-in process prior to arrival. This includes:

• Verifying the payment card used for the booking
• Pre-authorising a refundable security deposit
• Signing our terms and conditions

Once completed and approved, your secure access codes will be released, allowing entry via the key safe at your convenience.
